The Messengers of Peace and Love….

255px-Spas_vsederzhitel_sinayJesus, upon him be peace, was a lover because God is Love. Jesus would be seeking peace between enemies through Love. He would say, “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4: 7-8

Muhammad was also a lover and a peacemaker and one who sought harmony between people, all for the sake of God. He said:

“Son, if you are able, keep your heart from morning till night and from night till morning free from malice towards anyone”; then he said, “Oh! My son, this is one of my laws, and the one who loves my laws verily loves me.”

“A perfect Muslim is one from whose tongue and hands mankind is safe, and a true emigrant [muhajir] is one who flees from what God has forbidden.”

“You will not enter paradise until you have faith; and you will not complete your faith, till you love one another.”

“Faith is a restraint against all violence, let no Mu’min commit violence.”

The Prophet, saw, also said,

” Anyone of you who sees wrong, let him undo it with his hand; and if he cannot, then let him speak against it with his tongue, and if he cannot do this either, then (let him abhor it) with his heart, and this is the least of faith.”

“He is true who protects his brother or sister both present and absent.”

“The proud will not enter paradise, nor a violent speaker.”

“What actions are most excellent? To gladden the heart of a human being, to feed the hungry, to help the afflicted, to lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, and to remove the wrongs of the injured.”

“Someone said to the Prophet, “Pray to God against the idolators and curse them.” The Prophet replied, “I have been sent to show mercy and have not been sent to curse.”

“I found this inscribed on the hilt of the Prophet’s sword: “Forgive him who wrongs you; join him who cuts you off; do good to him who does evil to you, and speak the truth although it be against yourself.”

I was sick, but you did not visit...

“Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying:
Verily, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, would say on the Day of
Resurrection: O son of Adam, I was sick but you did not visit Me. He would
say: O my Lord; how could I visit Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the
worlds? Thereupon He would say: Didn’t you know that such and such servant
of Mine was sick but you did not visit him and were you not aware of this
that if you had visited him, you would have found Me by him? O son of Adam,
I asked food from you but you did not feed Me. He would say: My Lord, how
could I feed Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds? He said: Didn’t
you know that such and such servant of Mine asked food from you but you did
not feed him, and were you not aware that if you had fed him you would have
found him by My side? (The Lord would again say:) O son of Adam, I asked
drink from you but you did not provide Me. He would say: My Lord, how could
I provide Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds? Thereupon He would
say: Such and such of servant of Mine asked you for a drink but you did not
provide him, and had you provided him drink you would have found him near
Me.”

Kindness to a sparrow....

The Prophet, peace upon him, said,

“Whoever is merciful even to a sparrow,

Allah will be merciful to him on the Day of Judgment.”

The Prophet, peace be upon him said,

“A good deed done to an animal is like a good deed done to a human being,

while an act of cruelty to an animal is as bad as cruelty to a human being.”

The Messenger of God, peace be upon him, once passed by a camel that was so emaciated that its back had almost reached its stomach.

He said, “Fear Allah in these beasts who cannot speak.”

(Abu Dawud)

The Companions said,”O Allah’s Messenger! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?”

He replied: “There is a reward for serving any living being.”

(Bukhari)

A group of Companions were once on a journey with the Prophet, may Allah grant him peace, and he left them for a while.

During his absence, they saw a bird with its two young, and they took the young ones from the nest.

The mother bird was circling above in the air, beating its wings in grief,

when the Prophet came back. He said, “Who has hurt the feelings of this bird by taking its young? Return them to her.”

(Muslim)
