Jesus, upon him be peace, was a lover because God is Love. Jesus would be seeking peace between enemies through Love. He would say, “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4: 7-8
Muhammad was also a lover and a peacemaker and one who sought harmony between people, all for the sake of God. He said:
“Son, if you are able, keep your heart from morning till night and from night till morning free from malice towards anyone”; then he said, “Oh! My son, this is one of my laws, and the one who loves my laws verily loves me.”
“A perfect Muslim is one from whose tongue and hands mankind is safe, and a true emigrant [muhajir] is one who flees from what God has forbidden.”
“You will not enter paradise until you have faith; and you will not complete your faith, till you love one another.”
“Faith is a restraint against all violence, let no Mu’min commit violence.”
The Prophet, saw, also said,
” Anyone of you who sees wrong, let him undo it with his hand; and if he cannot, then let him speak against it with his tongue, and if he cannot do this either, then (let him abhor it) with his heart, and this is the least of faith.”
“He is true who protects his brother or sister both present and absent.”
“The proud will not enter paradise, nor a violent speaker.”
“What actions are most excellent? To gladden the heart of a human being, to feed the hungry, to help the afflicted, to lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, and to remove the wrongs of the injured.”
“Someone said to the Prophet, “Pray to God against the idolators and curse them.” The Prophet replied, “I have been sent to show mercy and have not been sent to curse.”
“I found this inscribed on the hilt of the Prophet’s sword: “Forgive him who wrongs you; join him who cuts you off; do good to him who does evil to you, and speak the truth although it be against yourself.”
“Love all and hate none.
Mere talk of peace will avail you not.
Mere talk of God and religion will not take you far.
Bring out all of the latent powers of your being and reveal the full magnificence of your immortal Self.
Be surcharged with peace and joy, and scatter them where ever you are and wherever you go.
Be a blazing fire of truth, be a beauteous blossom of love and be a soothing balm of peace.
With your spiritual light, dispel the darkness of ignorance;
dissolve the clouds of discord and war and spread goodwill, peace and harmony among the people.
from Muinuddin Chishti’s last talk, in 1233 A.D.
“True happiness is in love, which is the stream that springs from one’s soul. He who will allow this stream to run continually in all conditions of life, in all situations, however difficult, will have a happiness which truly belongs to him, the source of which is not without, but within. If there is a constant outpouring of love one becomes a divine fountain, for from the depth of the fountain rises the stream and, on its return, it pours upon the fountain, bathing it continually. It is a divine bath, the true bath in the Ganges, the sacred river.”

Allah will say on the Day of Judgment, ‘Children of Adam, I was sick but you did not visit Me.’
‘My Rabbana, How could I visit You when You are the Sustainer of the Worlds?’
‘Did you not know that one of My servants was sick and you didn’t visit him? If you had visited him you would have found Me there.’
Then Allah will say, ‘Children of Adam, I needed food but you did not feed Me.’
‘My Rabbana, How could I feed You when You are the Sustainer of the Worlds?’
‘Did you not know that one of My servants was hungry but you did not feed him? If you had fed him you would have found its reward with Me.’
‘Children of Adam, I was thirsty, but you did not give Me something to drink.’
‘My Rabbana, How could I give a drink when You are the Sustainer of the Worlds?’
‘Did you not know that one of My servants was thirsty but you did not give him a drink? If you had given him a drink, you would have found its reward with Me.’ (Al-Bukhari)
We place our hand upon our heart when we speak his most beautiful name, Muhammad, because he is the true human heart—the essence of our own mystical heart, hidden far behind the heart of life throbbing within the human breast. He is not in the desert of Arabia, but in the heart. Love him and you will love all persons abundantly. Fail to love him, and you will fail to love anyone truly. Love him who is the perfection of human love, and you will overflow with love for Allah, Who is the Source of love. Disappear with ecstatic love into the Prophet of Allah, and you will disappear into Allah in mystic union …
