Quietly entering the inner cubicle of the soul…

SONY DSCThe grace-filled time of prayer and meditation bring me to an intimate relationship with the Divine. In the deepness of these moments rises a trust from within. With this trust blossoms a willingness to receive and be guided by the inner peace and sacredness of the Divine’s way, time and presence moving in my life.

“Quietly entering the inner cubicle of the soul, shutting the door to the external thoughts of daily life and seeking conscious union with God is the highest form of prayer we know.”

Lao-tsu’s Peace Prayer

If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.

If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.

If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbors.

If there is to be peace between neighbors,
There must be peace in the home.

If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.

remember …

And do thou,

O Prophet Muhammad,

remember thy Sustainer and Cherisher

within thyself humbly and with awe,

below thy breath, at morn and evening.

And be not thou of the neglectful.

Muslims use the Ka’aba as a compass for their Salat.  They face Mecca together as one ummah.  In a sense, every Salat is a taste of hajj.   One can prepare for that journey within and recognize the true meaning of life, unloading all that is unnecessary and all that interferes with the the goal of life which is a life of mercy and compassion.

The heart is also a compass and within it is a ka’aba which is Love.  If a Muslim is a paraplegic, it doesn’t mean the lover of the Divine One must stop making salat.  The true salat takes place in the heart.
